Ep 90 - Doom Patrol: Brick by Brick

This Week: Flex Mentallo, Robotman, Rebis, Crazy Jane, and more are back to twist minds and take control. This new take on a classic embraces and reimagines the Morrison run's signature surrealism and irreverence. Incorporating bold, experimental art and a brash tone to match a new generation of readers, Gerard Way's Doom Patrol establishes radical new beginnings, breaks new ground, and honors the warped team dynamic of the world's strangest heroes.

Doom Patrol is the flagship title of Young Animal--a four-book grassroots mature reader imprint, creatively spearheaded by Gerard Way, bridging the gap between the DCU and Vertigo, and focusing on the juxtaposition between visual and thematic storytelling.

Next Week: Reed Richards plans his most audacious scientific endeavor ever when he challenges himself to "solve everything," and it leads him and the rest of the Fantastic Four into trouble.

Ep 82 - V for Vendetta

This week:A powerful story about loss of freedom and individuality, V FOR VENDETTA takes place in a totalitarian England following a devastating war that changed the face of the planet.

In a world without political freedom or personal freedom, and precious little faith in anything, comes a mysterious man in a white porcelain mask who fights political oppressors through terrorism and seemingly absurd acts. It's a gripping tale of the blurred lines between ideological good and evil.

Next week: Journey back to the Big One as Captain America recalls one of his most incredible missions. It's 1941, and the Howling Commandos are enjoying a respite from the ordeal of World War II — until Cap and his faithful partner, Bucky, lead them into the hands of the enemy! As the Nazis unleash their latest deadly soldiers, an old ally lends a hand — but an even older enemy will threaten America's greatest hero like never before. Will the Sentinel of Liberty gain his freedom in time to rescue Paris from the clutches of a monster? The Eisner Award-winning creative team of Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale (DAREDEVIL: YELLOW, HULK: GRAY, SPIDER-MAN: BLUE) reunites to deliver another colorful exploration of the early days of a Marvel icon!

Ep 75 - Green Arrow: Quiver

The original Green Arrow, Oliver Queen, reemerges after years of being assumed dead. But many people, including Black Canary, his ex-lover, Arsenal, his ex-partner, Connor Hawke, his son and temporary successor and Batman, the Dark Knight Detective, want to know how Green Arrow survived the airplane explosion and where he has been. Using strong characterization and engaging dialogue, comics and screenplay writer and movie director Kevin Smith (Clerks, Dogma, Batman: Cacophony) successfully resurrects one of the world's classic heroes this week in Quiver.

Detective Walker has to investigate the shocking murder of one of the most popular superheroes the world has ever known: Retro Girl. Ep 56 - Sandman

Its a book that Adam missed: Sandman.  Gaiman’s lucid dream of a comic blends superhero’s and the supernatural in a book that has rightly been labbeled a classic.

Next time on Funnybooks and Firewater were reading Planet Hulk.  Bryan has never read a Hulk book before, and this is a highly recommended Hulk story.  Also the basis for part of the next Thor movie.
