Were still scratching out heads about this one.  It all started with our confusion about the title, and got worse from there.  This week were reading the surreal Manga parody, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo.  Try getting your spell check not to freak out over that combination of letters.

Next week its The Boys, a secret CIA group established to keep ill-behaved superhero in line. From the same writer as Preacher, Garth Ennis. And the same artist of Transmetropolitian, Darick Robertson.

A cult of people wrongly accused by the media take their revenge on the press that did them wrong.  This week we are reading the debut comic of polarizing writer/artist Jonathan Hickman on the 10 year anniversary of its release.

Next week were reading the Wicked + the Divine from Kieron Gillian and JamieMcKelvie.  A modern fantasy where the god are pop stars, but they only have a 2 year life span.

From one Halloween to the next, Batman is on a quest to catch the “Holliday” killer.  On this weeks episode, The Long Halloween, from the powerful combination of Jeph Loeb, and Tim Sale.

Next week we get newsworthy when we discus The Nightly News, with words and art by Jonathan Hickman. Not only is it election time, its also the 10 year anniversary of this book.  I would like to claim we planned that, but it was actually dumb luck.

With the Doctor Strange movie coming up, we dove into a Doctor Strange comic.  Doctor Strange: The Oath, a self contained story, with a good dose of back-story. 

For an extra bonus, we were joined by our first guest bartender.  Rich from The Cellar Spirit Room in Fullerton created “The Elixir” a craft cocktail that ties in perfectly for this book.

All is not well in Riverdale.  The Zombie hoard, lead by Jughead is attacking the Halloween dance.  A horror spin on the classic Archie comics.

Next week, in preparation of the next Marvel movie, were reading Doctor Strange: The Oath.  A stand alone adventure of Doctor Strange to give us all a taste for the character.

We let our ID run wild this week with Johnny the Homicidal Maniac.  Keep the wall red with fresh blood, and try not to listen to the voices in your head.  

Next week all hell breaks loose in Riverdale when zombies attack Archie and the gang in Afterlife with Archie.

We begin our Halloween celebration.  For the month of October we’re focusing our attentions on the darker side of comics. This week we are discussing the Alaskan Vampire book 30 Days of Book.  A failed screen play, turned into a comic, then optioned for a movie.  Cause that’s how Hollywood works kids.  

Next week we’re getting a dose of Goth culture commentary, with a side of gleeful vengeance when we discus Johnny the Homicidal Maniac.  No trip to hot topic required.

Everyone has the capacity to be a super hero, assuming they are given super powers.  This week we find out what happens with ahooker is give super powers in the comic book satire, The Pro.  It’s funny, and very offensive.  You’ve been warned.

Next week we start our halloween festivities with the Alaskan vampire comic, 30 Days of Night.  What happens when vampires take over a town where the sun doesn’t rise for 30 days?  More importantly, what happens with a failed movie pitch gets turned into a comic book…and then actually becomes a movie?  Join us for all the fun at www.funnybooksandfirewater.com
